Facade cladding and building open terraces in Ukraine’s climate, with sharp temperature swings from -25°C to +35°C, is a complex engineering task. Ordinary tile laid on adhesive outside a building often peels off after just two seasons. • Why is classic “wet installation” on facades dangerous?

Many building crews in Kyiv still offer to glue porcelain stoneware straight onto the wall. For a 60×60 cm format this is acceptable under certain conditions, but for slabs of 1200×600 mm and larger it is a path to destruction.

Thermal expansion: porcelain stoneware has a low water absorption coefficient, but it expands in the sun. If the adhesive layer is not flexible enough, the slab is simply “torn” off the substrate.

Dew point: moisture that accumulates under the tile turns to ice when it freezes and expands, destroying the structure of the adhesive.

We recommend a suspended ventilated facade system. It is a multilayer structure in which an air gap remains between the insulation and the porcelain stoneware.

Hidden fixing (the “Keil” system): we drill special holes in the back of the slab for anchors. This lets us fix the slab mechanically, making its installation completely invisible from outside.

Building terraces in private houses or penthouses (for example in the Royal Tower or Skyline complexes) requires a different approach. We use a system of adjustable supports.

Free drainage: water goes into the joints between slabs and runs down the waterproofing layer to the drains. There will never be puddles on your terrace.

Easy access to utilities: at any time a slab can be lifted with a vacuum suction cup to check the waterproofing or run a cable without destroying the surface.
