The Art of the Perfect Joint and the 45° Mitre: Jewellery Precision in Every Millimetre

When we walk into a finished bathroom in the Novopecherski Lypky or Taryan Towers complexes, the first thing that gives away the craftsman’s class is the corners and joints. In work with large format (slabs) there is no room for compromise. M-STONE specialises in complex edge finishing, turning slab joints into seamless monolithic surfaces.

• The “Jolly” technology: why 45 degrees is not the limit

A classic 45° mitre is the standard. But at M-STONE we have gone further.

Micro-chamfer: we do not leave a sharp cutting edge. After the mitre the craftsman finishes the edge by hand with diamond “turtle” pads (grit from 50 to 3000), creating a micro-chamfer of 0.5-1 mm. This makes the corner safe and prevents chipping from accidental knocks.

Geometric correction: porcelain slabs often have a small “lens” (bow). Our CNC machines and professional cutting systems (Sigma, Raimondi) let us compensate for this unevenness and achieve a perfect meeting of four corners at one point.

• Epoxy grout: surgical precision of filling

We practically do not use cement grouts in premium interiors in Kyiv. Only two-component epoxy compounds (Mapei Kerapoxy Design, Litokol Starlike).

Properties: epoxy does not absorb wine, coffee or grease. It does not darken in wet areas and has the strength of stone.

Colour: we choose the grout colour not “from a catalogue” but by mixing pigments and adding metallic glitter if the design project requires it. As a result a joint 1.5 mm wide becomes completely invisible to the eye.

• Restoration and removal of defects

Even with the neatest installation on sites in central Kyiv (Antonovycha and Konovaltsia streets), force majeure happens.

UV restoration: we use special photopolymer adhesives and ultraviolet lamps. We restore the structure and pattern of the slab so that the repair spot cannot be found even in bright light.
