Tools for Installing Large-Format Tile: What the Pros Use in Kyiv
Installing large-format porcelain stoneware (slabs from 1200×2400 mm to 1600×3200 mm) is the technological peak of finishing work. If ordinary 60×60 cm tile can be laid with a manual tile cutter and a notched trowel, then working with slabs in Kyiv’s elite projects, such as the Taryan Towers, Novopecherskie Lipki or Diamond Hill complexes, requires a fleet of equipment worth tens of thousands of dollars.
M-STONE lays its cards on the table: which tools guarantee that your slab worth several hundred euros will not crack during installation and that the joints will look like a hairline.
- Measuring systems and laser navigation
In 2026 accuracy “by eye” is bad form. We begin work on sites (whether Pechersk, Podil or Obolon) by building a perfect 3D model of the room.
360° laser levels (such as Bosch Professional or Hilti): we build planes with a tolerance of 0.2 mm. This is critical for seamless laying, where the smallest deviation at the start will give a centimetre gap at the end of a three-metre slab.
Carbide hygrometers: before laying on a floor in new buildings in Kyiv we are obliged to measure the residual moisture of the screed. Without this stage the adhesive’s adhesion is not guaranteed.
- Cutting with no right to make a mistake: systems for slabs
XL-format porcelain stoneware has enormous internal stress. A wrong cut and the slab will “shoot” a crack in an unpredictable direction.
Manual guide systems (Sigma Kera-Cut, Rubi Slim Cutter): aluminium rails up to 3.6 metres long that are fixed to the slab with suction cups. A tungsten carbide wheel makes a perfect score, and special breakers (separators) let you split the slab smoothly.
Electric tile cutters with water cooling (Montolit Flash Line 3, Rubi TC-125): when a perfectly clean 45-degree cut (Jolly) is needed or when working with a slab 12-20 mm thick, we use diamond blades with water feed. This completely rules out chips and dust on site.
Dust extraction (Festool): we value cleanliness in premium apartments. All our grinding and cutting systems are connected to class M industrial vacuum cleaners.
- Rigging and moving: vacuum safety
A 1600×3200 mm slab weighs about 80-100 kg. It is fragile in bending.
Portable frames with vacuum suction cups (Raimondi Easy-Move): a rigid frame that does not let the slab vibrate or bend when carried. We use only vacuum pump suction cups with gauges: if the pressure starts to fall, the craftsman sees it long before the slab slips.
Rigging trolleys: for moving slabs along the long corridors of the RiverStone or Skyline complexes we use trolleys with a soft ride so as not to damage floor coverings that are already laid.
- Laying and adhesion: 2026 technologies
Simply putting a slab onto adhesive is not enough. You need to push the air out.
Electric vibrating suction cups (Battipav, Bihui): this is M-STONE’s “secret weapon”. High-frequency vibration makes the adhesive ridges collapse, ensuring 100% filling of the space under the slab. It is the only way to avoid voids, because of which tile cracks when walked on or when objects fall.
A reinforced levelling system: we use wide wedges and clamps designed for the pressure of heavy porcelain stoneware. They hold the slabs in a single plane until the adhesive is completely dry.
- A mobile workshop: organising the space
We do not cut tile on the floor. On every site (Kyiv, Irpin, Bucha, Koncha-Zaspa) we set up professional slab workbenches. These are stable modular structures up to 4 metres long that let craftsmen work at full height, ensuring millimetre accuracy.
Why is this important for the client?
Having such equipment at M-STONE is your insurance. A craftsman with one angle grinder cannot provide 2026-level quality. We invest in tools so that you get an interior that looks like a monolithic piece of rock, without a single flaw.
