A Real Project in Kyiv: Before and After Large-Format Tile Installation

At M-STONE we are proud of real projects that transform spaces. Today we look at a case: installing large-format tile in a private house on Lesi Ukrainky Street in the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv. The client is the owner of a cottage who wanted a modern minimalist interior.

Before the work: old linoleum, an uneven floor, no waterproofing. After: a perfect surface of 120×120 cm tile, seamless geometry, integration with underfloor heating.

The process began with dismantling. We removed the old covering and checked the screed for strength (at least 20 MPa). In Kyiv, especially in the centre, soils are unstable, so we added reinforcement. Preparation: laser levelling, applying a primer for adhesion. Choice of material: Italian porcelain stoneware from Marazzi, 9 mm thick, with an R10 anti-slip finish, ideal for a bathroom and kitchen.

Laying: we used vacuum lifters for slabs weighing 35 kg each. The adhesive is flexible, with an open time of 30 minutes so the position can be adjusted. Joints are 1 mm, with a levelling system. Total area: 80 m², duration: 7 days. Integration with the facade: the house has a “wet facade” of porcelain stoneware, which we also renovated, adding 100 mm of Rockwool insulation for energy efficiency.

Result: the client saved 15% on heating, and the floor withstands a load of 500 kg/m². The before/after photos show the transformation: from chaos to elegance. It is not the only project: in Irpin we laid 150 m² in a townhouse, and in Brovary we clad the facade of a commercial building in natural stone.
